International trainings
International trainings, scholarship programmes
The NOJ and the courts have had wide-scope and permanent professional connections with international organizations and foreign courts for several years. These international co-operations and training programmes enable judges, assistant judges and court staff to get familiar with significant international tendencies, gain useful knowledge as well as exchange ideas and they also contribute in sharing knowledge as well.
The NOJ has membership in the following international organizations:
- European Judicial Training Network (EJTN),
- Balkan and Euro-Mediterranean Network of Councils for the Judiciary (BEMNCJ).
The NOJ has regular contact with the following organizations:
- Hague Conference in Private International Law,
- European Judicial Network (EJN),
- Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU),
- European Court of Human Rights (ECHR),
- Council of Europe,
- European Academy of Law (ERA),
- EASO network of court and tribunal members,
- EUROJUST Joint Supervisory Body, JSB),
- Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE).
The Hungarian Academy of Justice closely cooperates with the following organizations in the field of judicial trainings:
- European Judicial Training Network (EJTN),
- European Academy of Law (ERA),
- German Foundation for International Legal Cooperation (IRZ),
- The European Programme for Human Rights Education for Legal Professionals of the Council of Europe (HELP),
- European Institute for Public Administration (EIPA),
- Judicial Academies of the Visegrád Four (V4),
- International Training Institute (IGO),
- Central and Eastern European Legal Institute (CEELI).
The NOJ supports the work of the international associations for judges and facilitates the participation of the judges and judicial associations in international organizations, such as:
- European Association for Labour Court Judges (EALCJ),
- Association of European Administrative Judges (AEAJ),
- International Association of Refugee Law Judges (IARLJ),
- International Labour Organization (ILO),
- Associations of Councils of State and Supreme Administrative Jurisdictions (ACA Europe),
- Association for European Competition Law Judges (AECLJ),
- European Union Forum of Judges for the environment,
- CEPEJ Network of Pilot Courts,
- Legal Compliance Committee of the Aarhus Convention.
Cooperation with the European Judicial Training Network (EJTN)
Owing to the membership of the NOJ more and more Hungarian judges, assistant judges and trainee judges have the opportunity to participate in the exchange programmes and international trainings organized by the EJTN. Judges and judicial employees regularly participate in foreign seminars, conferences, short and long-term exchanges programmes and study trips organized by the EJTN. Hungary also takes part in the THEMIS International Competition for trainee judges of the EJTN.

Cooperation with the European Academy of Law (ERA)
The NOJ closely cooperates with the ERA founded in 1992 in relation to international judicial trainings.
Within the framework of the cooperation agreeement between the NOJ and ERA, Hungarian judges and judicial employees can participate in international seminars organized by the ERA abroad. The NOJ also cooperates as an ERA partner in training projects financed by the Consumer Policy and Justice General-Directorate of the European Commission. Within these projects a series of seminars were organized in the field of EU civil law, IT crime and language trainings. The main objective of the trainings is to facilitate the closer cooperation of legal professions, to exchange experiences, to distribute good practices and provide information about national legal proceedings.
