Changes in the courts’ caseload

Based on the data provided by the courts, the National Office for the Judiciary (NOJ) prepared a summary of the developments in the first half-year of 2019. Compared to the 2011 annual analysis, the summary is completely renewed and significantly expanded.
The NOJ aims to bring cases to a close as quickly as possible, thus reducing the number of pending cases, while keeping the judicial work well founded.
In the first half of 2019, 603,688 cases arrived nationally, and 32,000 more, all together 635,974 cases were finished.
As of 30 June 2019, 200,000 cases were pending nationally, of which 89,5 thousand were litigated. The number of court cases decreased by 15.5%.
The positive change in the quality of judicial work is shown by the lower percentage of repeal rates in both district courts and regional courts compared to the first half of 2010.
The number of repealed cases is lower than ever before, and the timeliness is improving.
