Easier access to justice in Érd – handover of temporary court building completed

The launch of Érd District Court, 14th District Court of Budapest Environs Regional Court is aimed at easier and simpler access to justice.
The building providing temporary premises for this newly established court has been handed over by Dr. Tünde Handó, president of National Office for the Judiciary, Orsolya Radich, chief director of Pest County Government Office, András T. Mészáros, mayor of Érd and Dr. Tamás Gerber, president of Budapest Environs Regional Court.
The new court will welcome their clients in Érd, Felső utca 43. with the area of Érd, Diósd, Százhalombatta, Pusztazámor, Tárnok, Törökbálint and Sóskút settlements falling in their competence.
Tünde Handó, president of National Office for the Judiciary highlighted that it is a determining circumstance whether there is a court operating in a city; there has been a need for a local court in Érd for 30 years now. Launched on 1st January 2019, the District Court of Érd currently operates in a temporary building with XXI Century working conditions; the new court building will be built in the centre of Érd.
In her welcome speech Orsolya Radich, chief director of Pest County Government Office drew parallel between the government office and the judicial organisation as both are such institutions where the services provided to citizens are in the first place.
Mayor of Érd, András T. Mészáros said that it is a historical moment for the settlement since previous mayors would also intend to have a local court and now it has finally succeeded following the establishment of the Police Office. According to the mayor of Érd, the number of 70,000 citizens may soon show an increase to 100,000, which strongly proves the necessity of a district court.
Dr. Tamás Gerber, president of Budapest Environs Regional Court laid down that the strategic goal of the president of National Office for the Judiciary has been reached as to the access to justice by clients has become easier. He also stressed the exemplary joint efforts that made it possible to establish an individual court.
Due to the change in the areas of competence it is necessary for the court currently operating in temporary premises to be relocated in a whole new building. At the end of 2018, the National Office for the Judiciary have received the construction permit; the construction plans have been completed and then the public procurement procedure could be launched in order to appoint the building contractor. A net floor area of 2,940m2 will be developed in the new court building with 9 court rooms on the ground floor. Following the model of Eger Regional Court and Szigetszentmiklós District Court, a unified client centre will also be opened at Érd District Court.
After the opening ceremony dr. Attila Borbély, professional project leader of National Office for the Judiciary introduced the provisional construction plans of Érd District Court and the temporary building could also be visited.
