A two-day long international conference titled ‘Judicial Cooperation with Candidate and Neighboring Countries of the European Union’ was organized by the Ministry of Justice and the European Public Law Organization (EPLO) for the judicial organizations on 19-20 June 2019 in Budapest.

In the section on ‘Common Challenges and Possible Areas of Co-operation’, organized with the high representatives of candidate and neighboring countries, the National Office for the Judiciary (NOJ) was represented by dr. Judit Gyarmathy, vice-president of the NOJ. In addition, the NOJ introduced its unique training system and the developments of the Digital Court at the event.

Dr. Natasa Fülöp and dr. Ágnes Józsa, in their conversation-starter speech talked about soft skill training and leadership training methods. Foreign professional participants were particularly interested in the Hungarian training of trainers and how they measure the success of the training, and what feedback system they operate. In the discussion after the presentation, judges and prosecutors spoke about the establishment of new training centers and the challenges of e-learning.

Dr. Veronika Antal and dr. Attila Kapitány, colleagues of the Electronic Procedures Department of the NOJ, introduced conference participants to the Digital Court universe. The greatest interest was in the direction of the program for editing the judgments and automation. In the course of the discussion, the experts asked, among other things, about the organizational reception of the Hungarian digital system, the transition to the e-file and the security, including the protection of personal data.

International participants raised several questions about the secret of our successful operation: among our European neighbors, Poland has been especially interested in the training methods, and Slovakia in the further results in the development of the Digital Court.
