The report of the president of the NOJ accepted by the Parliament

The report of the president of the National Office for the Judiciary (NOJ) on the activity of the Office and the courts of Hungary in 2017 has been accepted by the Parliament. Dr. Tünde Handó was heard by the Committee of Justice of the Parliament, and the Parliament itself last December, on which occasion she described 2017 as the year of preparation, as on 1st January 2018 the new Civil Procedure Act (Pp.) and the Administrative Procedure Act (Kp.), while on 1st July 2018 the new Criminal Procedure Act (Be.) came into effect.
A reform of such scale – renewing basically the complete system of procedural law at the same time – has not been precedented in the Hungarian history of law, but the training system, which has been under continuous development since 2012, passed the exam with top marks, and the introduction of the new Codes went smoothly – said dr. Tünde Handó.
The president of the NOJ also highlighted from the events of 2017 the reconstruction of the building of the Eger Regional Court, in which the first new, modern client centre with a unified design was established. Dr. Tünde Handó also mentioned the new IT developments organised by the NOJ, such as the introduction of the e-file, the purpose of which is that clients, legal representatives, and judges can access the documents of their case anytime, anywhere, under safe conditions and in a way that documents can easily be searched for.
