The Hungarian team has prepared an excellent written project at the 4-day-long championship, organized by the European Judicial Training Network (EJTN). The team of trainee judges has returned home with a medal and a certificate, along with the judges’ praise for their thoughtful opinions and written work.

Team Hungary has performed at first on Monday, where they had to complete the written part of the competition. The challenge was the same for all 8 teams: a piece on access to justice. The task mainly focused on the judicial independence in light of the European Union and human rights challenges. This event was followed by a 30-minutes-long verbal presentation on Thursday, about a previously assigned case in connection with human rights. Part of the challenge was to answer question asked by the rival team, acting as an opponent and the jury panel as well.

The teams were judged by experts in the field of human rights, like dr. Francoise Tulkens, the previous vice president of the European Court of Human Rights, Grzegorz Borkowski a Polish civil- law judge, who previously worked at European Court of Human Rights, judge Edith Zeller of the Viennese Administrative Court, and president of the Association of the European Administrative Judges, Jana Gajdosova of the European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights and administrative judge Marc De Werd  of the Amsterdam Court of Appeal and professor at the University of Amsterdam.

The German team was placed first in the 2019 final, the Romanian team finished second, and the Italian team got the third place.
