Trilateral Negotiation on Judicial Pay-Rise

On 26 February 2019, the President of the National Office for the Judiciary (NOJ) negotiated the question of the new judicial remuneration system with Finance Minister Mihály Varga and dr. Pál Völner, Parliamentary Secretary of the Ministry of Justice. At the meeting, Dr. Tünde Handó presented the NOJ’s proposal, which was continously developed in the course of eight months, taking into account the opinion of judges and court leaders, and was finally crystallized by the end of last year.
The budgetary implications of the salary reform proposal and its possible introduction were also discussed. Gergely Gulyás, Head of Prime Minister's Office, appointed the NOJ in December last year to prepare a significant salary increase proposal together with the Ministry of Justice and Finance, which would apply to the whole judiciary, and could enter into force on 1st January 2020.
