Ma Magyarországon 764 bírósági vezető lát el igazgatási tevékenységet, akiket sarkalatos törvény rendelkezései alapján az OBH elnöke, a Kúria elnöke, az ítélőtáblai és a törvényszéki elnökök jogosultak kinevezni. Az OBH elnökének kinevezési jogkörébe jelenleg 123 bírósági vezető tartozik, míg a további 641 bírósági vezetőt a munkáltatói jogkört gyakorló bíróság elnöke nevezi ki.
