The president of the National Office for the Judiciary (NOJ) assigned Dr. Péter Tatár-Kis to perform the tasks of the presidency of the Budapest-Regional Court.

Last year 72 courtrooms have been equipped by the National Office for the Judiciary (NOJ) in cooperation with the National Infocommunications Service Company Ltd. (NISZ) for the performance of remote hearings. Nevertheless, developments have not stopped, by the end of this year, the innovative technology will be applicable in 184 courtrooms.

Based on the data provided by the courts, the National Office for the Judiciary (NOJ) prepared a summary of the developments in the first half-year of 2019. Compared to the 2011 annual analysis, the summary is completely renewed and significantly expanded.

The world’s best stenographers, typists and court reporters matched their knowledge at the 52nd Intersteno Congress and World Championship that took place in Cagliari, Sardinia between 13-19 July. Several Hungarian court professionals attended the event, e.g. Krisztina Kollárikné Terjéki, clerk of the XVIII-XIX. District Court of Budapest, who finished second in the category of Note Taking and Reporting.

Act II of 2012 on minor offences, offence procedures and the registration system of offence(hereinafter: the Offences Act) provides for sanctioning criminal action that violates or jeopardises generally accepted rules of cohabitation within society, without however the level or risk or extent of danger that would consitute a crime and which would necessitate sanctions accordingly. The range of action deemed as offence is defined by the Offences Act.

This year’s National Judicial Sports Days ended this Sunday. The program at the University of Miskolc campus was organized jointly by the Debrecen Regional Court of Appeal and the Balassagyarmat, Debrecen, Eger, Miskolc and Nyíregyháza Regional Courts with the support of Dr. Tünde Handó, President of the National Office for the Judiciary (NOJ).

Restrictions on reporting criminal proceedings in England and Wales

The National Office for the Judiciary (hereinafter: NOJ) as the central administrative body of the judiciary and as an accredited member of the Official Statistical Service fulfils its statistical function according to the principles laid down in the Practical Code of National Statistics. The judiciary is committed to continually improve the quality of said function.

The second-instance council at the Szeged Regional Court altered the Szeged District Court’s first-instance verdict in the case of the accused Z. V. and his accomplices, who are under procedure because of commiting theft and other crimes in complicity. The second-instance council aggravated J. M. second-degree and Cs. M. third-degree defendants' prison sentence from 3 years to 3 years and 6 months, but lowered their penalty of driving prohibition from 3 years to 1 year and 6 months.

The Szolnok District Court found the defendant called M. Z. guilty in the felony of assault on a public official and in the misdemeanour of battery, therefore, as a cumulative sentence, imposed a 2 years 8 months long imprisonment penalty on him and deprived him of his civil rights for 4 years. In its decision delivered on 30 June 2015, the Szolnok Regional Court as the second instance court essentially upheld the first instance judgement.

On 27th July 2015 Pécs District Court has ordered one month pre-trial detention of a 42 years old man, on the ground of the reasonable suspicion of five counts of felony child abuse and other criminal offenses.  

A műszaki alprojektben a bírósági épületek személyi beléptető kapukkal, röntgensugaras csomagvizsgáló berendezésekkel és kézi fémdetektoros eszközökkel történő felszerelése valósult meg.

Ma összesen 106 ítélkezési célra használt bírósági épületben található csomagvizsgáló röntgen alagút. Ezzel minden közepes, illetve nagy bíróságot, épület-állományunk mintegy 70 %-át, felszereltük ezzel a korszerű eszközzel.

Development and preservation of a balanced judicial workload is a common task and shared interest in the judicial system, thus it is considered a high priority goal of the National Office for the Judiciary (NOJ).

A judge with at least 5 years of judicial practice may be eligible for election as a member of the NJC.
