Open courts

As part of social responsibility, courts shall actively participate in the spreading of legal knowledge. The National Office for the Judiciary has started an educational road show in secondary schools promoting transparent and open justice, also called „Open courts”.

The motto of the program is “You are afraid of what you do not know”.

Pro Cooperatione Medal has been awarded to the President of the NOJ, dr. Tünde Handó

On the occasion of the Day of the Prosecution, on June 11 2019, a ceremony was held by the Office of the Attorney General in the ceremonial hall of the Curia. At the event, the Attorney General, dr. Péter Polt awarded the Pro Cooperatione Medal to dr. Tünde Handó, president of the National Office for the Judiciary (NOJ).

Fővárosi Törvényszék - Gyermekpornográfiával gyanúsított férfiakat tartóztatott le a bíróság

A Budai Központi Kerületi Bíróság egy hónapra – 2021. június 7-ig – elrendelte annak a négy férfinak a letartóztatását, akik közül hármat többek közt gyermekpornográfiával, míg negyedik társukat tizenkettedik életévét be nem töltött személy sérelmére szexuális erőszakkal, vérfertőzéssel, valamint 2 rendbeli – nevelése, felügyelete alatt álló sértettek sérelmére készítéssel, illetve hozzáférhetővé tétellel – bűnszervezetben elkövetett gyermekpornográfiával gyanúsítanak.

The beginnings of the operation of a self-governing system of the courts

The justice system created by the reform of 1997, which entrusted the National Council of Justice (NCJ) as a self-governing body with the administration of courts, is a novel and unique formation in Europe. Given its unprecedented functioning in the ’90s its formation and method of functioning needed several revisions on the way of improvement.

Courts and Communication

Continuing the success of the last five years’ conferences with the participation of 484 guests from 25 European countries in total, the National Office for the Judiciary organises the international Conference on Courts and Communication in Budapest on 11-12 October 2018.

This is the sixth annual conference held in Budapest dedicated to the complex issue of courts and communication with national and international experts renowned in the actual topic.

This year the topic is Courts in the 21st Century – Client Communication.

French - Hungarian Legal Day in Budapest

The French-Hungarian Legal Day, held on 11 October 2019, focused on the European relationships, the application of EU law and its challenges faced by the national institutions, and the European – especially French – institutional solutions.

Promotion of values and responsibility – Sustainable Values Program (SVP) of the judiciary has been launched

The president of the National Office for the Judiciary (NOJ) announced the Sustainable Values Program (SVP), consisting of three pillars, with the aim of transmitting the values of the judiciary for the posterity by relying on past traditions and results already achieved.

Citizens trust in the courts: the number of claims under the new Civil Procedure Code increased 30% in the second half of 2018

In 2018, 132.560 civil and economic cases were brought before the courts, of which 101.000 belonged under the new Civil Procedure Code. In the second half of the year (1 July – 31 December), 57.000 claims were filed by citizens under the new Civil Procedure Code which represents 30% increase compared to the first half of the year.

A judge with at least 5 years of judicial practice may be eligible for election as a member of the NJC.

E-akta - Digitális Bíróság Projekt

Az informatikai fejlesztések következő lépéseként kezdetét vette a Digitális Bíróság Projekt.

A projekt átfogó célja a bürokráciacsökkentés.

A megvalósuló fejlesztések eredményeként az ügyfelek gyorsabban és kisebb költséggel intézhetik ügyeiket. A bíróságokon pedig csökkennek az adminisztratív terhek, így hatékonyabb munkavégzés biztosítható.
