Last year, a new Code of Civil Procedure, Code of Administrative Litigation and Code of Criminal Procedure entered into force and the scope of court cases to be dealt with by electronic means was also extended – recounted the English-language report of the National Office for the Judiciary on the court system in the first half of 2018.
Each year an anonymous and voluntary survey has been carried out among judges since 2015. The survey is meant to find out how judges see the impartiality and independence of the judiciary in Hungary.
The President of the National Office for the Judiciary ordered the modification of the period of document-quarantine by PNOJ Regulation No.71/2020 (V.13). In order to speed up handling paper documents, the storage container of incoming documents can be opened after three days, instead of seven. Document management can be continued in compliance with the epidemiological rules in force.
On 1st January 2019, Érd District Court started to operate with eighteen judges who had previously worked at the District Court of either Budakörnyék or Budaörs. According to Dr. Tamás Gerber, President of Budapest Environs Regional Court, the balance of the first one and a half months is clearly positive: clients are very pleased with the new court, where they can deal with their cases quickly and in proper conditions thanks to the “Client Centre”.
Last year 72 courtrooms have been equipped by the National Office for the Judiciary (NOJ) in cooperation with the National Infocommunications Service Company Ltd. (NISZ) for the performance of remote hearings. Nevertheless, developments have not stopped, by the end of this year, the innovative technology will be applicable in 184 courtrooms.
Az Országos Bírósági Hivatal elnöke Mailáth György országbíró emlékére idén is tudományos pályázatot hirdet, amelynek keretében bírósági és joghallgatói tagozaton az alábbi négy szekcióban várjuk a pályamunkákat:

III. Munkajogi és közigazgatási jogi szekció
IV. Bírósági általános igazgatási és hivatástörténeti szekció.
Dr. Gabriella Kiss has been entrusted with the presidential tasks at the Szeged Regional Court of Appeal starting from 1st April for a fixed period of one year – announced Dr. Tünde Handó, President of the National Office for the Judiciary (NOJ), at the judicial general meeting.
The President of the National Office for the Judiciary acted in accordance with the law in the assessement of applications for court leader posistions in 2018.
