Alternative dispute resolution procedure, i.e. court mediation, has been available in Hungarian courts since the second semester of 2012, and is an effective tool of enhancing customer satisfaction and timeliness in civil litigious and non-litigious cases. From 1 January 2018, the parties will have the possibilities to approve the mediation agreement in court in a settlement attempt at a very low fee to make it enforceable.

One of the strategic goals set by the President of the NOJ is to simplify access to the courts, in connection to which the NOJ has been engaged in witness care in the scope of a separate national programme since 2013. It is common that the witness care representatives are the first persons whom the clients meet at the court, and consequently they are one of the key elements of enhancing trust in the courts.

The high quality and timeliness of the legal proceedings taken before Hungarian courts is reflected in the Scoreboard of the European Commission. The successes reflected in the numbers can also be attributed to changes in the organisational culture that, in turn, are based on the strategic objectives set by the President of the National Office for the Judiciary. Effective from 2012 these changes can be traced in the infrastructure and administrative modernisation of the judiciary.

All-judge meetings

The all-judge meetings are convened by the president of the court and the participants are the judges assigned to the specific court. The duties of the meetings include: to express an opinion on the application of court leaders, to elect a delegate for the election of NOJ members and to elect the judicial council.

A műszaki alprojektben a bírósági épületek személyi beléptető kapukkal, röntgensugaras csomagvizsgáló berendezésekkel és kézi fémdetektoros eszközökkel történő felszerelése valósult meg.

Ma összesen 106 ítélkezési célra használt bírósági épületben található csomagvizsgáló röntgen alagút. Ezzel minden közepes, illetve nagy bíróságot, épület-állományunk mintegy 70 %-át, felszereltük ezzel a korszerű eszközzel.

The Open Court Programme, initiated by the NOJ in 2012 for social responsibility purposes in order to facilitate the judicial career orientation and law-awareness of the new generations, completed its sixth successful year.

This programme with colourful content and methodology that is realized with the wide-scope, active and create contribution of the courts attracts tens of thousands of people every year.

One of the strategic objectives of the President of the National Office For the Judiciary is to make the administration of justice and judicial work more transparent and predictable. By way of modern technical solutions generated in this project, the citizens' trust in the work of courts might become stronger.
